SANTO DOMINGO (DOM): Double Olympic gold medalist (2004 and 2012) at 400 m hurdles and best Dominican Republic athlete ever Felix Sanchez announced his retirement at age of 38. He was also double World champion in 2001 and 2003. His area record 47.25 comes from winning the World title in 2003 in Paris. He competed at 4 Olympic Games and 8 World Championships. He made the announcement from his home in Los Angeles via video conference at the headquarters of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) through the Skype service. Sanchez plans to be in Rio as commentator.

Felix had an amazing career spanning more than 15 years at the elite level. During that time he won 2 Olympic Gold Medals and 2 World Championships Golds in the 400m Hurdles.
